Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you take insurance?
Yes, we are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield. When scheduling an appointment we will ask for insurance information and our team will check benefits to give you the best idea of what to expect for coverage. Coverage is based on your specific insurance plan and deductibles, co-pays, co-insurances and other out-of-pocket costs that are set by your insurance company.
  • What if we don’t have Blue Cross Blue Shield, can we still see a therapist at Authentic Counseling and Therapy?
Yes, we have a cash rate set per session. You can also submit your out-of-network costs to your insurance. We will provide a Good Faith Estimate to help explain your expected costs. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
  • What can I expect from the first session?
Each therapist has their own style and technique, however the first session is an intake. Prior to the first session you will be prompted to fill out paperwork that collects necessary information. The first session is to review the information gathered in the paperwork, start to build a relationship with your therapist and to discuss what goals you want to work on in therapy and a plan on how to get started.
  • What is the payment and cancellation policy?
All payment is due in full at the time of service. Authentic Counseling and Therapy accepts cash, personal check, debit, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, and major credit cards. We have a 24 hour cancellation policy, which means if you contact us to cancel a session 24 hours or more before the appointment, you will not be charged for the session. If you cancel within 24 hours of the appointment, you will be charged $100. This fee cannot be submitted to insurance.
  • Do you offer online/virtual therapy?
Yes, we offer online/ virtual sessions as well as in-person sessions. We use a HIPPA compliant, encrypted platform to meet with clients over video for virtual sessions.
  • How does payment for therapy work?
Payment may vary. If a service is billed through insurance the insurance company sets the rate and the amount of coverage varies from plan to plan. Our team will ask for insurance information during our initial conversation and will check benefits to give the best estimation of costs. If services are not billed through insurance there will be a flat rate for sessions. The rate is $175/session.
